Engine Replacement Fund

Following the loss of Engine 2 in September 2025, the Hobart Volunteer Fire Department has established the Engine Replacement Fund to raise the resources needed to acquire a replacement apparatus.

Engine 2 served as the department's primary water supply unit for over two decades. Its 1,800-gallon tank was critical for firefighting operations in areas of our service territory without hydrant access. The estimated cost of a suitable replacement pumper engine is approximately $650,000. The department is exploring all available options, including grants and financing, to supplement community fundraising efforts.

How to Help

The department relies entirely on the generosity of the Hobart community and surrounding areas. There are several ways to support the Engine Replacement Fund and the department's ongoing operations.

Attend Auxiliary Events

The HVFD Auxiliary organizes dinners, bake sales, and community events throughout the year. All proceeds from these events support the department. Check the News page or the Auxiliary page for upcoming events.

Direct Contributions

Monetary contributions to the Engine Replacement Fund may be made through any department or Auxiliary member. The department is grateful for contributions of any size.

Volunteer Your Time

The department and Auxiliary always welcome new volunteers. Whether you're interested in firefighting, emergency response, or supporting the department through Auxiliary activities, there is a place for you.

Mutual Aid: While the Engine Replacement Fund campaign is underway, the department maintains full operational readiness through Engine 1 and mutual aid agreements with neighboring fire departments. The community's fire protection has not been compromised.
