The Hobart Volunteer Fire Department maintains its apparatus to the highest standards possible within the resources available to a volunteer department. Each unit is inspected regularly and tested in accordance with NFPA guidelines.

Engine 1 is the department's primary response apparatus. This Class A pumper carries a full complement of hose, nozzles, ground ladders, and rescue equipment. Engine 1 responds to all structure fires, vehicle accidents, and mutual aid requests within the department's service area.

Engine 2 served the Hobart Volunteer Fire Department for over two decades as the department's primary water supply unit. Its 1,800-gallon tank was critical for operations in areas of the service territory without hydrant access. Engine 2 was lost during a maintenance-related fire at Station 1 in September 2025. No personnel were injured. The department honors Engine 2's years of faithful service to the community.
