Engine Replacement Fund Update
The Hobart Volunteer Fire Department is pleased to report that the Engine Replacement Fund has now reached $8,741 toward its $650,000 goal. While there is a long road ahead, the department is encouraged by the community's response.
Since the loss of Engine 2 in September, the department has relied on Engine 1 and mutual aid agreements with neighboring departments to maintain response capability. While this arrangement has served the community adequately, acquiring a replacement pumper engine remains critical to the department's long-term operational readiness.
The department wishes to thank the HVFD Auxiliary, whose fundraising efforts, including the September bake sale and rummage auction at the VFW and the October chili cook-off, have been instrumental in building the fund. The Auxiliary's upcoming Spring Dinner will continue these efforts.
The estimated cost of a suitable replacement apparatus is approximately $650,000. The department is exploring all available options, including grants and financing, to supplement community fundraising. Every contribution, regardless of size, brings us closer to restoring full operational capacity.
