Auxiliary Bake Sale and Auction Raises $1,286 for Department
The Hobart Ladies Auxiliary organized a bake sale and rummage auction on Saturday, September 21st at the Hobart VFW on Canal Street. The event raised $1,286.43 for the fire department in the wake of Engine 2's loss earlier in the month.
Auxiliary president Ruth Ann McCoy led the organizing effort, with volunteers contributing baked goods, household items, and other donations for the auction. The event drew strong community attendance despite being organized on short notice.
The funds raised will go toward new hoses and gear for the department. While the full replacement cost for Engine 2 is estimated at approximately $650,000, every contribution supports the department's ability to continue serving the community.
The Auxiliary has announced plans for additional fundraising events, including a chili cook-off tentatively scheduled for October at the Community Center. The department is grateful for the Auxiliary's continued support and for the generosity of everyone who attended.
